just ponder for moment here .

remember even when first play minecraft , could not settle for just one single house with every survival function - craft , smelt , enchant , etc . of course always useful to have some spare furnaces and crafting tables on hand in that house , but always like to have separate buildings for some of these things too .

and as minecraft grow more and more in scope , like ... there is less and less way to cram all of these things into one single house , unless decide to build mega mansion . which some people do and have fun with that , but that never really suit kossai .

there was time when one simple chest storage room was actually good enough . those days long , long gone . so instead prefer to build up new little storage areas by theme for particular blocks . feel like remember , navigate , and enjoy better that way than if was to have one mega storage room with redstone auto sorter . more convenient , maybe , but less fun .

there is so much to do now , so much to play with - no need to dip into every single one , but should at least play with these funny little toys in ways that enjoy most .

so , this world ... is really really fun again . some time away and then new extremely inspirational videos ( vampires SMP ) really kickstart this love again .

have set up to play creative-survival hybrid : love to faff around and build , but build alone is not really enough to keep attention . need more reasons for things to exist in world , and also really like to just explore . but really hate build in survival mode , and also do not find fun to just fly through places in creative - so need both to have most fun !

hermitcraft videos fun and inspirational in own ways , but just not really into all of this megabase mega storage stuff personally , or big industrial farms . like , not as if have other players in this world to trade with , and not as if need huge bulk resources when build mostly in creative anyway . instead , what really like is lots of little buildings - like , well , village !

so , for everything that make , want to also think about practical purpose - some kind of storage or survival usage . make tailor shop months ago , and hey , start to use lots of fun custom banner designs - that would be good place to put all those away in . or like make decorative wine barrel storage , but realise actually lack potion storage ... great place to put those , right ? and by perfect coincidence , already set that up right across from potion brewery !

also set up proper to-do list in planify , which is like . so good for brain . can keep track of things that want to do and always have that inspiration on hand ...

but also , if really really frustrate with village , can fly off somewhere else and set up little minibase there . maybe want to keep eye on that human village , or want to explore these cool ruins or trial chambers , or really whatever . experiment with different builds and ideas in these places , and then just ... return when ready . xaero's map mod is also really nice for this - can mark anything , anywhere , at any time .

think would be cool to also properly revamp some of those human villages - natural generations , that is - especially ones closest to main court territory , but that is more just for roleplay and creative flair so not highest priority right now . have big island to work from still , and that is even after literally cut through land with 2 custom rivers !

also have litematica now , so with some fiddle around , can easily paste in towers as see fit ! also figure out some fun ways to decorate these towers , but want to do that uniquely for each one , so schematic is just blank version . ( this also give power to use schematics other people make , but less interest in that right now . )

So excited thinking about doing a semester in Ireland, but the process of studying abroad and all the paperwork and stuff feels really daunting. I'm autistic, I can't fill in a form to save my life. I am eligible for Irish citizenship but if I applied now I wouldn't get it in time for next semester, so I'll go as just a UK citizen, which is fine and I know someone who's done it so I'll ask her. But I can't help feeling like this would all be easier if I'd sorted my Irish citizenship out years ago like I originally intended to. Oh well.

One of the classes I think I can do is medieval philosophy which sounds so cool.... Mainly I want to do the Old Irish and Middle Welsh ones. I don't think i can do palaeography but I'd like to.

I've created a timeline of the Cornish language but I'm either going to remake it or make more timelines. Also I don't really like my voice for transgender reasons so editing the video is hard because I have to hear myself 💔

honestly so totally in love with these farms . always used to make proper 9 by 9 farms , but given almost always play singleplayer , that build up to be way too much supply , and then farms become just decorative ... which is not very nice when those farms do not even look pretty !

so , decide to make little farms that would be functional at smaller scale , while also pretty enough to be decorative in case ever need to stop harvest . since this whole world is faerie world ... why not fit under pretty little trees ? and make circles , too ! yeah , circles go pretty far in this world . ;D

can not really tell from this angle , but jungle logs in back also grow some cocoa beans ! this turn out to be perfect solution , as did not just want to plant random jungle trees in this biome , while still desperately want cocoa beans . can now farm some right at home !

so main fae base " accomodate " for multiple sizes and inhabitant types , but think all these little far-off splinter bases will only build for kossai : 0.35 player scale , less than full block tall , and with elytra for glide . one thing this means is occasional towers to get glide from , as well as generally landmark and vantage points .

problem is that need pretty tall height to get good glide anywhere - 32 blocks up from flat land give 200 blocks of glide , 64 give 450 . of course this can change with different elevations , of both tower point and target terrain ... which is to say this is kind of nightmare and really not sure how to make these things look good !

think would also really like to figure out how to fill in gaps between these bases , really give this world some life . remember some fun stuff from pearlescentmoon's hermitcraft season 9 base ... so many season 10 bases also really fantastic . work on small singleplayer scale here , so definitely not expect any of that ! but at least ideas of how to fill in paths and gaps . and again , etho . etho etho etho . there was time when always want to try everything etho try , so surely there is inspiration to find again !

I think it's interesting that the Beasts are conform to traditional gender roles, especially when compared to the Ancient Heroes. The warriors are men, and the women are in more nurturing positions. While Shadow Milk is far from traditionally masculine now, while he was still a Virtue, he was an academic – a position often seen as strictly for men. (And I feel it goes without saying that he almost certainly wasn't a shapeshifter until after his fall, given that his shifting is an extension of and aid for Shadow Milk's Deceit. That means no fluidity between masculine and feminine forms.)

Compare this to the Ancient Heroes. Pure Vanilla is an effeminate male healer (often voiced by women in different languages), and there are two strong warrior women. Dark Cacao and White Lily are the closest to being gender-conforming, but they still fall short, so to say. Dark Cacao is a strong king with a noted soft side, and White Lily is a delicate woman with a thirst for knowledge. (Remember: academia and knowledge are traditionally seen as men's territory.)

Furthermore, the Beasts have a majority of men, and the Ancient have a majority of women.

I like to imagine this is has to do with the fact that the Beasts were made for their roles, while the Ancient Heroes grew up as normal people before being gifted their sacred status. When the Virtues were hand-crafted, they were imagined up as 'suited' for their designated roles in every way. But, once these attempted manifestations of perfect ideals failed, it fell to normal people. And normal people are much more variant, much more diverse. But one can argue that it is also through the Ancient Heroes' upbringing as normal people that they are able to thrive where the Virtues once fell.

well ... not quite , but definitely think over and change some of approach . for one , main fae base have this sort of rocky hill area that did want to keep as such without trees , but ... trees vital part of how this base function and shape , so decide to start fill in - so much better now . want to still honour rockiness though - cute custom boulders !

second ... really want this world to be forever world . that means need to get around , explore , really play . as much as love build in fae area , clearly burn out and get frustrate when that was only goal . so ... decide now , will also set up mini home bases ... anywhere ! anywhere that look pretty , or might even cheat with location commands to find all those cool fun features .

like , not actually actively play survival since days of 1.10 . know things from videos but not personal experience ! and that also give reason to make cute little bases in different parts of world . still prefer to build in creative mode , so still switch back and forth , but ... hope that can make things more fun ! will also definitely go back and forth , live in main area too , not just keep as decorative euphoria :P

just . like to watch others have fun in minecraft , and new vampires SMP today just really inspire . should probably revisit some old etho episodes too , etho was always big inspiration .

past life series end , naked and afraid series end , hermitcraft season 10 is on way out - suddenly have minecraft video hole to fill . so of course vampires SMP exist now ! ooh , really giddy about this . just fantasise now about this kind of situation but with fae ... oh to be faerie who live among humans in disguise , intent on snatch away and expand court , hehehehe .

... already have half of that down , but other half is sadly quite illegal , and also just not very nice . :P ah ! games will have to do .

This is a post that I want to eventually cross-post to anime_manga, but I last left it in an unfinished state in uh... 2024 on Cohost. Going over the color symbolism of every single Utena character is well-trod territory, so I do want to link to pre-existing analysese of that nature, such as Vrai's recap episode commentary from 2014. Jay Scott's analysis of how Utena uses color, by someone clearly not involved the anime's fandom culture but nonetheless deeply fascinated with the work to the point of having a massive number of articles on his personal site dedicated to the show, is also a great read - I think some of his reads are massive stretches, but you can't say he isn't thorough.

Image colors, part 3: Dyed Roses

Really, I think I probably need to bring in at least a loose summary of the other main characters' image colors, as well as a note on how red and white roses are much more associated with ideas than with the specific characters they're tied to. (Red is more about sex than it is about the specific character of Touga, although Touga is The Red One; White is much more about idealized princehood than it is about the specific character Akio (or about Dios as specifically a past-Akio, versus Dios as pure symbol). It is noteworthy that Touga wears a lot of white and Akio a lot of red! Anthy has purple hair, and thus purple can be said to be "her color", but purple roses do not exist in the show - something to be said about how she is treated like an object within the system of Ohtori, framed as a passive doll-like subject by the Duels in contrast to how Duelists are framed as active free agents within the system? Obviously the Duelists are themselves manipulated by Akio towards his own ends, but their participation requires them to believe that they really can bring about Revolution for themselves by possessing Anthy as a passive subject, whether she be pure doll-princess or consumable sexual object in their eyes...)

The comic book convention in my town has videogame, anime, etc stuff, but ultimately a lot of floorspace is taken up by cape comics, because it's a comic book convention, and I just don't... care about that?

Anime offerings tend to be largely the same limited stuff every year. Sailor Moon is the one thing that isn't shounen that you can count on finding - otherwise it's Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer, YGO, etc. FMA, but I haven't found anything 03 specific when that's the version I care about. And anime girl figurines from popular gatchas and isekais. I've never seen any vocaloid merch that isn't Miku at this con, outside of a single "official art on a solid background" button pin of Teto.

The best bet for diversity is Artist Alley in the back, because the front is all cape comics, mass-popularity shounen, sailor moon as the one shoujo or mahou shoujo offering, and pokemon - but it felt even less diverse this year than previous years. A bunch of stuff that's currently popular with Millenials, Zoomers, etc was barely present. No Umamusume at the whole con! Like one table with Deltarune stickers or prints. There was a decent bit of KPop Demon Hunters at multiple tables, but still less than I expected? NO Amazing Digital Circus or Murder Drones. (Though i did see a kid cosplaying one of the Murder Drones characters, that was cute - they had the syringe tail and everything!)

For what it's worth, out of the things I've listed - I don't personally care about Umamusume, or KPop Demon Hunters, or ADC or MD. But I do notice that both "new things" I'm personally invested in (such as Deltarune) and new things I'm not personally invested in are lacking.

(Also I do kind of wish that I could attend a con that had a nice array of actual panels, and not just merch...)

One nice thing is that there's a table just outside artist alley selling some 70's shoujo paraphernalia. They said they get the laminated magazine covers from a Japanese store that does the cover-lamination process to old magazines that are too damaged to sell wholesale. Looking at the inside side of the covers, you see all these vintage advertisements aimed at the target audience of the magazine - honestly just as neat as the gorgeous sparkle-eyed illustrations on the fronts, albiet in a different sort of way. A slice of pop culture history...

But yea, I wish my area had dedicated anime and videogame conventions.

in teen years , some people consider kossai to have bad reputation as " whiner " who always have million and one excuses for any piece of advice . and to be honest , yeah , that shit still kind of stick bad in mind , even though ... well .

for one thing , not always look for advice when explain or complain about things . sometimes just need to complain , and people make things awkward or outright hostile when assume look for advice only to get shut down . like talk " 30 year old who legitimately want to doxx teenager over this shit " hostile , that fucking loser . ( never did pan out , but grow more and more horribly baffle by this guy with each year that pass . )

for two , even when want advice , not always able to explain very well , or feel uncomfortable about explain certain parts especially in more public settings , or even just ... not always know which pieces of context people need , and which ones can safely assume to know .

so what happen in those situations is that maybe say something vague about current situation - maybe in this case about struggles with school - and someone say just ask teacher next time . but not account for fact that kossai did not attend ordinary classroom with good attentive teacher , because did not want to share special ed bullshit , and could really only say : appreciate thought , but can not really do that .

and hence , decide kossai was just simple whiner . no one think that maybe either already try these things and see no good results , or in circumstances where really just not possible , and judge on that .

or like , in think about storage and room layout as happen right now . see this room everyday , and know size and amount of objects , and sometimes just forget that other people obviously do not . so people who want to give advice , often base that on personal assumptions of size and amount . which is not at all to say angry at people when this happen , because know mean well , of course . just like , feel awkward to come back around and give corrections , simply because not every useful piece of context to start with .

and problem with context troubles is that , honestly never even realise when context is missing to start with , until someone actively join conversation and highlight by accident . never feel good about that , but can not just make brain do this better .

feelings get into weird possibly hormonal spiral , so just spend last hour on paper craft shelf organisation . cut down some premade layout papers for cute junk journal signatures ... well , not that digital kit really hit quite like actual junk junk journal , but this was cute little gift so would like to use at some point . problem is just not any space to store another junk journal ! also manage to consolidate paper stacks from 2 organiser things into just 1 .

just need good way to store these extra window clings now ... not quite sure how or where to do that . seem pretty sturdy but biggest one come with lots of small pieces , do not want to risk snag and break in storage .

if actually feel better ... eh , not totally sure , still kind of wonky . but at least get some things done that mean to do for months now , even if also have to deal with pain .

feel like kossai would definitely benefit from physically present tist , like . only ever done through pre-made audios and scripts , with lover legion over voice call , or else with each other ( effectively " solo " ) , so actually not really any experience in physical sessions .

... but sure do take advantage of internal interaction with each other , and know that touch , visual , and non-verbal sound triggers all work really really good , personally . do not tend to need very long induction , just little bit of set dressup and something pretty to focus on will do :P

funnily regardless of methods certain suggestions just do not stick - anything that is like forget this , forget that , nope that is just ... impossible ? plurality might actually be factor there - have very strong collective memory between each other . can still be wonky in other ways , especially in psychosis , but generally seem pretty impenetrable from outside .

would honestly love to see what stage tist make of kossai . maybe some day ...

Stardew Valley's 1.7 update has been announced, although not what will be in it.

Picking back up Caves of Qud. Started a new file, once again using the "gunwing" preset character. For some reason there's way more lag in the Stiltgrounds now for me? Makes it really annoying to traverse the place. Shame because I loooove shopping in Qud.

I feel like I need motivation to complete the two color-meta posts for Utena and Princess Tutu I promised anime_manga ages ago. I never finished their cohost versions and now I'm slacking on the dreamwidth versions... sigh.

It's easy to get demotivated. X( Everything is stressful and I don't have much faith in myself to have interesting or worthwhile things to say...
